Meghan's Story
When not at work, Meghan spends time with friends and family, travels every chance she gets, attends as many Penn State athletic events possible, gets time in the gym, as well as participates and assists in the organization of charitable events.
Friends and family are a big part of Meghan's life. She grew up in Ft. Myers, Florida as an only child, with two amazing parents who have always supported and encouraged her independence as well as hard work. Meghan was a gymnast from the age of three to 19 when she went to Penn State as a walk-on to the varsity women's gymnastics team. During her competitive gymnastics career she reached the highest level in the sport as a freshman in high school (level 10). She competed at level 10 for four years of her career. The sport helped mold Meghan into an independent, organized and hard working individual with a passion for sports.
After arriving at Penn State, Meghan decided that, because of injuries, she would become the team's manger and undergraduate assistant coach instead of an athlete. From the fall of 2007 until the summer of 2010 Meghan remained the manager and undergraduate assistant coach of the team. During her time as manager she helped the coaches keep and analyze stats collected during practice, organized travel plans, secured reservations, and helped the coaching staff with anything they needed on a day-to-day basis. This position helped continue the development of her managerial, organizational, event planning and time management skills. Travel is a major part of Meghan's. She has been a frequent visitor of the Bahamas and Caribbean throughout her life. The time spent fishing, boating, exploring and taking in the amazing scenes of the ocean have developed her love of nature and a calmness that she carries within her personality. Boating, deep-sea fishing and paddle boarding are just a few activities that she has developed passions for while visiting in the Islands.
After graduation she went from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma to coach for Bart Conner gymnastics facility. After a year two opportunities had Meghan moving to Chicago. In Chicago she worked for the PGA of America on a special event for the 2012 Ryder Cup. During this time, she worked for both Medinah Country Club and the PGA Ryder Cup office on tournaments and special events that led up to and during the week of the Ryder Cup. The events she was involved with for this international sporting event brought to light her true passion for event planning and desire to be in the sport event industry.
After the tournament came to a close Meghan moved back to her hometown and began working as the Manager of Communications and Events at Global HR Research. This position has only enhanced her passion for the event industry, further developed her experience with events and utilizes her experience in communications to further the grow the reach of Global HR Research's brand and services.
Currently Meghan is living in Oklahoma working as a yoga instructor and teaching fitness classes to amazing clients throughout the area. Meghan also continues her work as the Director of Communications and Events for Champions 4 Children, which is a Southwest Florida based annual event weekend that raises funds for children in need.
